Case Study | IR Impact Forum at the Lumi Experience Toronto

IR Impact, formerly IR Magazine, gives investor relations teams the data, research and events they need to do their jobs well, including a benchmarking platform used by 30,000 subscribers. It's fully independent, and its content is shaped by what IR teams and investors say they need.

Each year, IR Impact hosts the IR Impact Forum – Canada, a day of sessions and networking for IR professionals followed by an evening awards ceremony. For the past two years, the forum has been held at the Lumi Experience, an event venue in central Toronto.

The challenge

The forum's audience is senior and getting more so. Many attendees run investor days and earnings calls for large listed companies, so they expect an event to be well organized and professionally run.

IR Impact had previously held the forum in hotels and a conventional conference venue. As the event grew, its needs changed. The AV had to do more than display slides, and the team wanted a layout that made networking easy, as it's a big part of why people attend.

IR Impact needed a venue that offered:

  • A central, accessible location, close to the evening awards venue
  • A professional setting that matches the standards of senior IR attendees
  • In-house AV and production, run by people who know the space, rather than an external supplier
  • Responsive on-site support on the day
  • Room to learn and network, so attendees can make the most of their time with peers

The solution

As the Lumi Experience is in central Toronto, IR Impact's awards venue was just a two-minute walk away. That made the day much easier to manage, for attendees and for the IR Impact team.

The layout also suited the forum's format. With the networking area directly behind the main room, attendees passed through it as they arrived and could move easily between sessions and conversations throughout the day.

Previously, IR Impact hired a room and brought in a separate AV supplier unfamiliar with the space. At the Lumi Experience, AV and production were handled in-house, so the team knew exactly what the room could do. The sessions ran smoothly and looked and sounded great.

The Lumi Global team also handled registration and the flow of attendees through the space, and supported the IR Impact team throughout the event.

I cannot fault the team. They are proactive, they are awesome, and nothing is a problem.

The results

The 2026 forum was bigger, better attended and among IR Impact's highest-rated events.

  • Attendance up 46% in two years, from 70 at the previous venue in 2024 to 88 in 2025 and 102 in 2026
  • Just 3 no-shows, a 97% attendance rate
  • Among IR Impact's highest-rated events, with an attendee feedback score of 4.8/5
  • Less afternoon drop-off than previous years, even with an evening awards ceremony to follow

For IR Impact, the biggest benefit was that the venue ran smoothly in the background, leaving the team free to focus on the content and the people in the room. IR Impact is already in talks to return to the Lumi Experience for the 2027 forum.

The Lumi Experience in Toronto is an excellent fit for the IR Impact Forum. The quality of the space, the production capabilities and the on-site support help us create a professional, engaging experience for our attendees and sponsors.
