What does ‘end-to-end verifiable’ mean?
An election is end-to-end verifiable when all processes taking place within it, from where ballots are cast to where results are generated, can be independently verified.
This means anyone involved in an election, including voters, administrators, and observers, can confirm for themselves that any results shown are correct and no tampering has occurred. All activities taking place during an election in Electa are recorded and open to scrutiny.
A system like Electa is trustworthy by design and doesn't need any companies or salespeople to prove its integrity!
How do I know that Electa can accommodate my organization's election?
With over two decades of conducting digital elections large and small, Electa is built with customizability in mind. Within the system you will find a wide variety of options for configuring your election, ranging from the color and imagery of your user interface to the rules you will use for tallying ballots and the timeframe given to voters for casting them. In tandem with a campaign module to send credentials and targeted messages, a platform to register candidates, and an extensive user manual, Electa is fully equipped to meet your organization's needs.
Electa offers both scheduled and live election functionality, making it easy to conduct elections in both in-person, in conference-type settings and over longer periods of time. No matter how or when your organization conducts its elections, Lumi Global can help.
Is Electa difficult to use?
We have worked hard to make the system as accessible as possible to voters and administrators alike. Even with myriad customizability options to help your election look its best, Electa's voter interface has been built to help voters intuitively fill out ballots, confirm their choices are correct, and see that their ballots have entered the digital ballot box with no issues after casting them.
For administrators, elections in Electa are easy to set up. In the backend, you can automatically import voters, create ballots, define your election rules, and test your election setup all within a relatively short time. This way you can make more time for what really matters: voting!
How can Electa be both anonymous and fully transparent?
This is a question that computer scientists have grappled with for years: how can we keep a voting system open to scrutiny yet make sure that nobody knows what is on voters' ballots?
Electa addresses this problem by digitally replicating the traditional ‘two envelope’ method used to preserve anonymity in paper voting, with the outer envelope having voter information on it and the inner envelope containing a voter's completed ballot. In Electa, a digital signature, one which is tied to an eligible voter and cannot be altered, replaces the outer envelope while the inner envelope consists of a voter's ballot. Before ballots are decrypted and tallied, a voter's ballot is separated from its digital signature (or removed from its outer envelope) and mixed with other ballots, meaning that it can no longer be traced back to that voter and is now anonymous.
